On Tuesday 21st May, Pentland United officially opened the new accessible (disabled) toilet facility at Ham Park, marking another important step in the club\u2019s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and the expanded use of community facilities in Dunnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening represents the culmination of many hours of effort by a wide range of people and marks a significant improvement in accessibility at Ham Park. This development supports the club\u2019s long\u2011term ambition to ensure the site can be enjoyed by as many members of the community as possible, regardless of mobility or additional needs. By improving access, Pentland United aims to broaden the range of activities, events, and user groups that the facilities can accommodate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project involved the transformation of the former referee\u2019s changing room and was delivered largely through the dedication and hard work of the club\u2019s committee. A substantial proportion of the work was carried out by committee members and volunteers, highlighting the continued commitment of those who generously invest their time, skills, and experience to enhance this important community asset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club would like to give special recognition to Dylan Murray for his crucial support throughout the project, alongside the significant contributions made by the local supply chain. Sinclair Glazing and Joinery Ltd, A & J Mackay Plumbing & Heating Ltd, and our main sponsors, Blargoans Ltd, each played a key role in delivering the facility to a high standard. Pentland United recognises the importance of working with local businesses and ensuring that investment in facilities has a positive impact on the wider local economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new accessible toilet was formally opened by Gordon Mackenzie, a long\u2011standing supporter of Pentland United whose contribution to the club spans several decades. Gordon has served the club in many roles over the years, including player, captain, manager, committee member, and ultimately chairman, before retiring from official duties. His involvement in opening the facility was a fitting recognition of his lifelong dedication and service to the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of Pentland United, Secretary William Davidson highlighted that the completion of the facility builds momentum for further planned improvements at Ham Park, all aimed at strengthening its role as a welcoming and inclusive hub for sport and social activity in Dunnet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pentland United would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the project, as well as to the funding partners whose support was pivotal in enabling the work to proceed: the Stroupster Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund and the Dounreay Communities Fund. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
